If driving around Italy is what you are planning on doing on your holiday, this Freytag and Berndt superatlas will be one of your 'best friends'. Paper back and spiral bound, it is a comprehensive atlas of the road networks and will help you navigate easily.
The entire of Italy is covered, mostly at 1:150 000 scale. Several maps cover Sardinia at 1:400 000 scale, while Sicily is covered at 1:400 000 scale. In total there are 323 maps so the coverage is extensive.
The topography of the land is shown with colour shading. As with all Freytag & Berndt products, this atlas makes use of a markings and icons system. Tourist information covered includes:
- All road types, railway lines, ferry routes and foot paths
- Natural reserves, places of particular interest and picturesque towns
- Antique sites, places of worship, monuments and mines
- Cabins, golf courses, camp sites, wild life parks, airports, marinas and other places of leisure
The centre of the book has a comprehensive index of localities.
A range of city plans are included, all in 1:15 000 scale. These include Ancona, Aoste, Bari, Bologna, Bolzano, Cagliari, Campobasso, Catanzaro, Florence, Genova, L'Aquila, Merano, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Perugia, Potenza, Rome, Turin, Trento, Trieste, Venice, the Vatican and San Marino.
