} peter
Peter found his dream job late in life and has enjoyed every minute at The Chart & Map Shop. After many years at the helm, he has now
entirely handed over the reins to the (big) kids and can now be found travelling the globe, cruising the French canals, or relaxing by
the beach, reading the paper and having a coffee and generally just enjoying a well earned retirement!
lynne {
Lynne, Peter's wife, has worked for an international airline and an Australian port authority but most recently taught English to
overseas students until The Chart & Map Shop took over her life. She has travelled extensively in Europe and has a particularly good
knowledge of France following on from an interest since her school days. Lynne works in the shop on Saturdays, but otherwise can
be found travelling or relaxing by the beach with husband, paper and coffee!
} dani
Dani, together with her brother Chris, leads the team at The Chart & Map Shop. 10 years ago her parents rang her in London (where she
lived for 5 years) and asked if she would mind the shop for 6 months so they could live in France for a while. Since that day she's
never looked back! Dani loves travelling, so you might find if you ask for her that she is "overseas". So far she's been
to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia and is forever looking to expand her travel horizons.
chris {
Chris is our IT guru. He has spent many, many hours making this website and is very proud of it, as are we all. Chris started out working
in the family business after he left school. He stayed for several years until all those years of staring at Lonely Planet covers finally
got to him. Two years on, after travelling the world with nothing but a carry-on backpack, he enrolled in a degree in Computer Science.
Three years later we got back a really well travelled, super awesome IT guy!
} kay
This lady is still single... (for those of you who remember our previous website). Kay, our Accounts Manager, tries to keep a tight rein
on the finances, but with a daughter who loves to spend money (see our purchaser Bridget) it is an uphill battle. Kay has been involved with
shipping most of her working life with a brief stint in finance in Melbourne. Kay loves travelling and has recently holidayed all over Australia.
Her sights are set on Greece and Ireland next.
sally {
Sally is one of our meticulously neat chart correctors. She has a wealth of knowledge in this area, having previously worked for many years in
the cartographic office of Marine & Harbours. She is responsible for keeping our huge range of nautical charts up to date. If you sign up for our
Chart Correcting Course, Sally will be the one imparting her very valuable knowledge to you. She has travelled extensively throughout Australia
and also overseas through Europe and Asia.
} lisa
Lisa is another one of our meticulously neat chart correctors. Lisa's friendly smiling face can be found hiding out the back correcting our large
range of British Admiralty charts. Lisa had her own cartographic business in Leinster for 8 years before settling back in Perth. She loves to
travel like the rest of us and lived in Italy for a couple of years when she was younger. She hopes to return there one day with her children.
caitlin {
Where would be without Caitlin? She is our multi-tasking wonder woman who is in charge of the commercial shipping side of our business. Fielding
hundreds of queries each day, she is responsible for providing ships with all the charts and publications they require, frequently with great urgency.
Caitlin has travelled around Europe and, if we are ever crazy enough to give her some time off, would love to add to her overseas adventures.
} bridget
Being Kay's daughter, Bridget often came in with her mum on school holidays to help out. After a few years of uni her love of shopping and spending
money, especially other people's money lead her into becoming our purchaser. She knows exactly what is in the shop at any given time, much better
than a computer! If you can't see Bridget when you come in, it is because she is hiding behind the fort of books on her desk!
hannah {
Hannah looks after the shop on Saturdays and Sundays. She is currently studying Law at Notre Dame University just around the corner, so working in
the shop keeps her in food etc. She has been involved with the sail training ship Leeuwin II for a number of years, and has travelled through New
Zealand and Cambodia. She's looking forward to heaps more travelling once her studies are completed.
} alasdair
Alasdair is another 'weekender' who works with Hannah on Sundays. He is studying journalism at Notre Dame University and has lived in a number of
different countries including Norway and France and thus speaks French. Alasdair has travelled quite extensively and as a result has a good knowledge
of European and Southern African travel, particularly all the good pubs!
ben {
Ben is the latest addition to our team. He arrived in Australia in 2007 from the UK and has done a fair bit of travelling around our countryside. He
has also travelled around Europe and parts of America. After a brief stint at the Maritime Museum he has now joined us and if you come into our shop,
it will more than likely be his smiling face that greets you!
