Visitors to Penguin Island come to see its wildlife, but see it for less than a day. This book gives you the year. This easily readable book has anecdotes, stories, natural history and wildlife speculation set out in a diary form. Written over several years whilst Martin was ferry skipper and tour leader in the Shoalwater Islands marine park, assembled to form one entire tourist season, it leaves you with a feeling for Penguin Island: the people, the wildlife and the changing seasons.

Not a guide, nor a text book, not quite a novel, this book has something for everyone and is the perfect gift or memento of a day at Penguin Island.

Martin Chambers has worked for 12 years in the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, as ferry skipper to Penguin Island and also running sea kayaking adventure tours. Prior to that he has been a publican, shop owner, laboratory assistant and, believe it or not, worked for quality control at the Swan Brewery. He has also written The Canoe and Kayak Guide to WA, available from outdoor shops or direct from the author.
