Discover regions of France, with these tourist maps from IGN. They use a general road map as their base, and then they are overlaid with a vast array of tourist information.

This is one for the history buffs. It gives a detail outlay of the events of D Day - 6 June 1944 when the Allied forces landed in Normandy, France to fight against Germany. Several maps are included.

One map shows the position of the Allied forces at midnight. The hierarchy of Corps, Division, Regiment/Brigade, Division and Infantry are marked. Airborne units, dropping zones, the German forces, heavy batteries, flooded areas and a plethora of other information are shown with icons.

A map also displays how the Allied front advanced through Normandy from June 6 to 18 June. The area covered in each day is differently coloured.

There is an overview of Normandy and commemorative sites are marked, showing museums, cemeteries and war memorials.

Finally, there is an overview of the events of Operation Overlord, the military operation which started with Operation Neptune (another name for the Normandy landings). This is in several languages including English. Much of the writing on the maps is in French, however.
