Editions du Breil publishes a collection of guides to the navigable canals and rivers in France. They are mainly intended for the boating fratenity but are also useful for cyclists and trekkers who wish to discover the French waterways. Each guide has about 100 pages with detailed maps and tourist and technical information in English, French and German. The contents are constantly updated; each guide being renewed on average every two years.

In guide number 7, Midi - Camargue, we follow the "Two Seas" Canal from Castets-en-Dorthe to Beaucaire and all the other waterways of south-eastern France such as the Robine, the Canal from the Rhone to Sete and even the old canal from Arles to Bouc. There is also a map of the Etang de Thau, an intercoastal lake classified as maritime waters but accessible to inland craft.

The Canal du Midi is the main subject of this guide. Dug in the 17th Century, this famous waterway still has most of its original structures. To enable you to admire them, they are all identified on the maps: bridges, spillways, siphons and aqueducts, carefully restored and still in service after more than 350 years.

Essentially destined for boaters, this guide is also adapted to the needs of the numerous cyclists who follow the canal towpath. For example, the camping grounds and roads leading to them are shown. For those who wish to discover the source of water supply for the canal, we have added a map of the feeder canals.
