The essential purpose of this guide is to provide the information necessary for the selection of secure cruising anchorages in which rest and recreation may be enjoyed.

The anchorages included in the guide are not intended to form an exhaustive list and in certain areas, such as Norfolk Bay, D'Entrecasteaux Channel and the Derwent, Huon and Tamar estuaries, virtually every bay is suitable given the right conditions. In the main however they do represent the best locations from which to choose in adverse or less than ideal weather.
