Welcome back.
After an intense few months of work, we have some great news to share, The Chart & Map Shop is reopening!
Our doors are open again under new ownership, with a brand-new store in Jolimont and a completely rebuilt website. To everyone who has browsed our shelves, planned a trip with one of our maps, or messaged us asking when we would be back: thank you for your patience. We cannot wait to welcome you again.
A Fremantle favourite reborn in the heart of Jolimont.
For more than twenty years, The Chart & Map Shop has been a trusted name for travellers, sailors, four-wheel drivers and anyone with a love of maps. What began as a Fremantle institution that first opened its doors in 1997, has since grew into a destination for customers right across Western Australia (and thanks to online orders-around the world!)
Earlier this year, the original business sadly entered liquidation. Rather than let a much-loved shop disappear, PERSON? and THEIR team stepped in, acquired the business, and set about rebuilding it from the ground up.
It’s a fresh start in a new home, carrying the same spirit that made Australia's favourite map shop so special.
The shop you love is (mostly) unchanged
If you have visited before, you already know what sets The Chart & Map Shop apart: the range and the expertise. Walking in, or browsing online, you’ll find a range of topographic maps, road maps, globes, travel guides, vintage travel posters and hard-to-find titles you simply will not see anywhere else.
The service our regulars rave about is not going anywhere.
Our shelves are built for the curious and the adventurous with experienced staff members PERSON AND OR PERSON ready to answer your queries.
Our team is still here to print and laminate your map on the spot, help you plan a road trip or an ocean passage, and track down that obscure book or map you have been hunting for. Pop in, ask a question, and settle in for a browse - that part will always be at the heart of who we are.
What’s changed behind the scenes
We will be honest: towards the end, the old business let some customers down. It was never about the products or the people in the shop - it came down to systems that could not keep up.
So that is exactly what we have rebuilt.

We have rebuilt all of those from the ground up - so that when we say something is in stock, it is, and when we ship it, you can track it to your door.”
Making things right
We know some customers were caught out when the previous business closed, with orders left unfulfilled. While the new Chart & Map Shop is a separate business with no legal liability for those older orders, we did not want to start this new chapter pretending it did not happen.
That is why affected customers are being offered a goodwill store credit, redeemable across our new range once we reopen. If that is you, keep an eye on your inbox - we will be in touch with the details.
