Following Shakespeare's Reach Around the World

Journalist Andrew Dickson travels across several continents in this book, tracing how Shakespeare's plays have been staged, translated, claimed and reinterpreted far from their English origins. Each destination becomes a lens on a different chapter of the playwright's international afterlife, from colonial history to Cold War politics.

The result blends travel writing with cultural and literary history, following the author's own journeys as much as the historical record, rather than reading as a conventional academic study.

A rewarding choice for readers interested in Shakespeare, literary history or travel narratives with a strong cultural theme.
