The Official Standard for Stowing Cargo Safely

This is the IMO's Code of Safe Practice for Cargo Stowage and Securing, known throughout the shipping industry as the CSS Code, in its 2021 edition. It sets out internationally recognised guidance for stowing and securing cargo aboard ships, covering general cargo, cargo transport units and other loads carried by sea.

Used by ship's officers, cargo surveyors, terminal staff and maritime students, it provides the accepted reference point for safe loading practice and cargo securing arrangements recognised across the industry.
