Andorra & Pyrenees by ITMB

Rather than treating tiny Andorra as a standalone subject, ITMB has built this map around the wider Pyrenees mountain chain that straddles the border between France and Spain, with the Principality of Andorra sitting within it on the reverse. Given the two areas sit at very different scales, the map is printed with two covers, so it works equally well shelved as an Andorra map or a Pyrenees map depending on what a customer is after.

The Pyrenees side, at 1:500,000, stretches from the Atlantic coast across to the Mediterranean, and from Toulouse down to Barcelona, taking in Pamplona and the Basque Country, Huesca, Catalunya and Girona in Spain, along with Béziers and Carcassonne in France. The legend covers an extensive range of features, from roads by classification, airports and ports through to ruins, hot springs, forts, lighthouses, national parks, mountain passes, caves and border crossings, making it a genuinely detailed reference for the whole mountain range.

The reverse side is a completely redesigned map of Andorra at 1:40,000, the only dedicated map of this small mountain state currently available, complete with an inset plan of Andorra La Vella, its only city. Known equally for world class skiing and year round duty free shopping, Andorra has held its independence for centuries by balancing its position between two larger neighbours, and this side captures the mini-state in a level of detail its size alone wouldn't usually warrant.
