Armenia & Azerbaijan by ITMB

Covering both countries on a single sheet at 1:450,000, this ITMB map addresses one of the more complex mapping challenges in the region: due to the way Armenia and Azerbaijan separated as political entities, each has enclaves within the other's territory, making it impractical to map one without the other. Ethnic distribution across the region is shown via an inset, reflecting the mix of Armenian, Azeri and smaller communities such as Avar, Lezgin, Tsakhur and Talysh groups found throughout the area.

Recording the road network accurately has been a particular challenge for this title, given ongoing disagreement between the two countries over which former routes remain open, closed, or have been replaced by new bypasses since independence. Points of interest are marked throughout, including museums, churches, historic sites and airports, with all place names given in Latin script and each country carrying its own separate index.

Detailed city inset maps of Yerevan and Baku are included, showing main streets and points of interest, along with a number of foreign embassies. Unfolded, the map measures 100 x 68cm, folding down to a compact 10 x 25cm. A useful reference for travellers, geopolitics enthusiasts or anyone with a particular interest in the Caucasus region.
