Kuala Lumpur & Malay Peninsula by ITMB

Since the sprawling rural mainland surrounding Kuala Lumpur functions more as an extension of the city's influence than somewhere travellers would visit independently, ITMB has paired an updated, second edition city map of KL with a full map of Malaysia's Malay Peninsula mainland on the reverse. Printed at 1:10,000, the city side covers four key components of KL: the railway station, relocated south of the city to ease congestion and improve airport access; the traditional Little India commercial district; the busy Chow Kit commercial area; and the newer City Centre district, home to the Petronas Towers and much of Malaysia's booming economic activity. As KL is too spread out to fit onto a single sheet, an inset covers Klang, Batu, Kajang and the airport south of Putrajaya, with markets, shopping malls, religious buildings, museums, theatres, transit lines and points of interest all marked throughout, alongside an extensive place name index.

The reverse side, at 1:730,000, covers the entire mainland portion of Malaysia, formerly British Malaya, which naturally divides into three distinct regions: the developed west coast, the quieter east coast beyond the central mountain range, and the island of Penang. Georgetown, Penang's capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its blend of Malay and Chinese culture, is a particular highlight. A detailed inset of Singapore sits to the south, with a portion of southern Thailand also included to the north.

A thorough, well researched update to ITMB's earlier Kuala Lumpur title, extended to cover the wider Malay Peninsula in one convenient sheet.
