The Philippines has bounced back from the pandemic era remarkably quickly, and Manila, its capital, has long been underrated as a destination despite serving as the country's principal access point. Being a huge, sprawling city, like many across Asia, makes it genuinely challenging to map, and this double sided title tackles that with a detailed street plan at 1:11,000, with hotels concentrated south of the Pasig River near the historic Intramuros fortress district.

The new addition to this edition is the reverse side: the first ever dedicated travel map of Luzon Island, the Philippines' principal island, at 1:1,000,000, along with its surrounding smaller islands. American visitors in particular are often drawn to the Bataan Peninsula and the small island of Corregidor, both tied to significant World War Two history, while other travellers head further afield to the beaches of Palawan and Boracay, Mayon Volcano, or the rice terraces of Banaue. Given its scale, this side offers a far more detailed picture of Luzon than a map covering the entire island nation could provide.

Unfolded, the map measures 100 x 69cm, folding down to a compact 24.6 x 10.3cm. A genuinely useful, first of its kind reference for travellers splitting time between Manila and the wider island it sits on.
