Recovering Forgotten Voices From the Archives
Historian Tiffany Shellam examines the roles played by three Aboriginal men, Migeo, Boongaree and Bundle, as intermediaries aboard early nineteenth-century maritime expeditions to the archipelagos of north-western Western Australia. She shows how these men were central to encounters between European crews and local Indigenous groups, and how later archival practices gradually erased their presence from the official record.
