Melbourne-born cook and MasterChef Australia finalist Kishwar Chowdhury sets out to change that in her debut book, opening the door to her suburban Melbourne kitchen and the cuisine that shaped her.

Across 100 recipes, Chowdhury moves through the full breadth of Bengali cooking, from bustling street snacks and the refined dishes of the Mughal court to slow-simmered fish stews, green mango and lentils, and the region's beloved sweets. Bengal's cuisine, in her words, is a dance of spices, smoke, and technique, and that spirit runs through every page.

As a second-generation migrant, Chowdhury threads personal history through the recipes, tracing dishes back to their roots in place and season while making them approachable for a home cook anywhere. The book pairs her writing with striking location and recipe photography, giving readers a real sense of Bengal alongside the food itself.
