Our Top 10 International Destinations (Part 1)

Best overseas travel destinations In part one of our Top 10 international destinations, we take a look at the first 5 of the top 10 most popular overseas travel destinations in our store.

France

As the gateway to Europe and the city of love as its capital, it’s no wonder France has taken out the top spot. With many of the locals not speaking English, many Australians invest in a phrase book before they travel. See the beautiful city of Paris using the unique City Walks: Paris cards with their instructions and detailed maps to get you to Montmartre, The Marais, The Camps-Elysee and Gardens of Versailles. If you are travelling outside the capital, the France Road Map by Freytag & Berndt will allow you to plan a safe and enjoyable journey throughout France thanks to a comprehensive key, name index, time & distance chart as well as driving information. Indonesia

With Indonesia as our closest neighbour and Bali as the holiday destination for millions of Australians, it’s no wonder we sell a few books on Indonesia. If you are looking to converse with the locals on your next trip to Bali, pick up a copy of Indonesian Phrase Book - a quick reference communication guide. Travelling further than Bali? You’ll need a map. The Indonesia Travel Atlas includes 144 maps detailing all cities, towns, villages, nature reserves and places of interest all indexed for quick reference. The compact atlas also acts as a guide with precise locations of all popular sights, hotels, restaurants, temples and shopping malls. India

One of the most populated regions in the world is third on our top 10. If you are visiting this colourful country be sure to pick up some maps before you leave. The Bhutan & Northern India uses a range of symbols and graphics to show airports, lighthouses, points of interest, wells, ruins and archaeological sites, reefs, volcanoes and glaciers. The topography is indicated using contours and vivid altitude shading with plenty of spot heights. India South covers the area from Mumbai (Bombay) and Visakhapatnam south to include all of Sri Lanka. All the major roads are shown as well as railways, airports, places of interest, archaeological sites, national parks and beaches. Italy

Another popular European destination for our customers is Italy. With its fine food and incredibly diverse cities, it’s no wonder Italy makes the list. Italy is a double-sided map covering northern Italy on one side and southern Italy on the other. The map marks out the road and rail networks with road distances in kilometres and European road numbers. Places of interest such as churches, monuments, beaches, caves, waterfalls, mangroves, volcanoes and accommodation options are marked. Insets of Sicily, Sardinia, the Vatican City and San Marino are also included. If you like the idea of using a Crumpled Map, there’s one for Venice, Florence and Rome.
